In this use case, we are using a multichannel gas sensor to act as a electronic nose. It gives us the ability to detect a variety of gases, such as Carbon monoxide (CO), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Ethyl alcohol(C2H5OH), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
We used this to classify between 7 types of beers:
It has applications in defect detection, hop and beer classification.
It can be a small, portable, low-cost solution to assess aroma profiles and beer quality. You wouldn't need to send samples away to perform gas chromatography.
Such a device a device would be even more important for small, independent breweries who don't have the means of bigger brands.
