Hole drilling deviation
Know if your drill bit departed from a pre-selected trajectory
oil gas drilling classification performance heavy industry oil drilling

Deviation from the pre-selected path can be a huge problem for oil drilling operations, from higher cost to legal issues.

The causes of hole deviation is complex and depend on multiple factors.

To try to predict such deviation, we will be using well logs. They measure physical properties at different depths and show how they affect the hole deviation.

The provided well log dataset contains the following parameters:

  • Depth
  • Gamma-ray
  • Shale Volume
  • Resistivity
  • Delta T
  • Velocity of the drill bit
  • Density
  • Neutron porosity
  • Density porosity
  • Poisson's ratio
  • Classification

The classification parameter can be either 0 or 1. If Classification == 0, the bit didn't deviate from its trajectory at this particular depth. The same way, if Classification == 1, the bit did deviate.
